Around the world, there are so many ways to celebrate loved ones who have passed.

Some bring flowers to graves, others light candles — and in Mexico, people celebrate life itself with a joyful, colorful festival.

Here’s a creative activity to take kids (and grown-ups!) on a little trip to the heart of Día de los Muertos

 Materials:

  • mask pattern

  • markers and/or colored pencils

  • glue (ref)

  • electric candle (ref)

Step-by-step :

  1. Draw or print a mask on half of an A4 paper (leave a 1 cm strip on each side for gluing).

  2. Color your design.

  3. Roll it into a cylinder and glue the edges.

4. Place a electric candle inside to turn your mask into a glowing lantern.
