The image is of a kangaroo and her baby snuggled up together. This is a gentle and tender activity which symbolises the love between parent and child.

A perfect activity to celebrate love or simply to illustrate the emotional bond between parents and children.

Made from recycled materials ♻️, it is simple and economical.

Materials

  • 2 tp rolls

  • pencil or erasable pen (ref)

  • oil pastel (ref)

  • black posca marker (ref)

  • glue (ref)

  • scissors

  • craft knife (to be used by or with an adult)

Step-by-step

  1. Flatten two rolls of paper. Draw the outline of a large kangaroo on one roll and the kangaroo's pouch, a small baby kangaroo and a small heart inside the pouch on the other.

⚠️ Tip for stability and relief: don't cut all the way around the outline! Leave some parts attached to the edges (e.g., feet, legs, ears) so that it can stand upright.

  2. Cut out all the items

  3. For the baby, you can either cut around the arms with a craft knife to hold the heart, or glue the heart between the arms.

  4. Use pastels to colour in. Go over the outlines and use a black Posca pen to draw the eyes.

  5. Glue the pouch onto the big kangaroo's belly and place the heart in the baby's arms, or glue it onto the baby.

  6. Slip the baby into the pouch.
