Christmas tree to decorate

Between 9 and 24 months, little ones love boxes, filling and emptying them... they're fascinated by the movement and can repeat it for hours. Above all, it's a way of working on their fine motor skills.

Here it's an idea of recycling a piece of cardboard and turning it into a tree, and how multicoloured pompons became baubles attached to a wooden stick.

Details and step-by-step tutorial here

This is a great exercise for fine motor skills, as the child has to be precise enough to get the wooden stick into the slots. It's also a great way to talk about different colours with your child.

Tips: for older children (end of preschool), you can create cards representing the tree by changing the position of the colours. The child will have to reproduce the tree exactly. Reproducing the tree is not always easy for children and requires a great deal of concentration, as well as working on spatial representation.
